Description of role:
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Serve as one of 90 Deputy Venue Logistics Managers at an Olympic and Paralympic Games Venue or Village. This role will have responsibility for assisting in the planning, implementation and delivery of Venue Logistics operations at a specific competition or non-competition venue. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the supervision of staff, coordinating work assignments, setting project goals, evaluating employee performance, and determining training requirements. This is an evolving position and responsibilities may shift over time. Titles may be adjusted from time to time to accurately reflect responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the planning and management of Logistics operations within an assigned venue, including the implementation of venue specific operational plans and efficient processes for the receipt, storage, distribution, ongoing supply and recovery of equipment at the venues.
Act as the second-in-charge for all Logistics operations at an assigned venue, act as the primary contact for Logistics operations when the Venue Logistics Manager is not on shift.
Assist the Venue Logistics Manager to refine and improve the design of logistics compounds and venue storage facilities incorporating efficient material movement pathways into and within your respective venue. Where feasible, participate in Test Events to validate and refine assumptions and processes.
Act as a Logistics representative to the Venue Planning Teams, ensuring smooth and seamless back-of-house operations at an assigned venue.
Implement and adhere to venue specific logistics operating plans; incorporating and adhering to departmental policies and procedures.
Manage daily Logistics operations at your venue with reporting responsibilities to the Venue Logistics Manager and dual accountability to both Logistics and your Venue Team.
Assist in the management of the Logistics team at a venue consisting of a combination of staff, volunteers and contractors.
Schedule, motivate and lead your Logistics Venue Crew; create a team environment whilst ensuring you are able to deliver optimal service levels, in an effective and cost efficient manner.
Coordinate with suppliers, Material Planning, Logistics Operations and other LOCOG Functions to develop an integrated supply chain to ensure effective back of house operations within your assigned venue.
Assist the Venue Logistics Manager with the maintenance and monitoring of delivery schedules for load-in, re-supply, transition, and load-out of your venue whilst identifying cost effective measures of utilizing staff and equipment.
Assist in the communication of Logistics procedures and Security protocols relating to the delivery of materials to venues.
Monitor and coordinate the allocation of Logistics resources (e.g. FF&E, MHE, labor, utility vehicles) at your venue to ensure a high level of service delivery to other venue Functional Areas.
Manage Logistics asset management documentation and reports related to your venue.
Assist in the transition from Olympic to Paralympic Games if required at your venue.
Adhere to all measures designed to fulfill LOCOGs sustainability commitments and goals of minimizing waste and maximizing revenue through the effective post-Games disposition of assets; incorporating a demonstrated appreciation of environmental impact and re-instatement post Games.
Incorporate workplace safety protocols into your standard venue logistics operations, including training and ongoing monitoring to ensure best practice standards.
Games time duties/responsibilities will evolve overtime.
Other duties may be assigned as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience:
Proven ability to solve problems and make critical decisions independently without supervision.
Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
Ability to work closely and cooperatively with internal and external stakeholders
Attention to detail and a strong customer service focus are essential.
Experience in a leadership role in Logistics or Event Operations, preferably in a venue based role in major sporting events.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, written and communication skills.
Organizational, time-management, computer and administrative skills
Knowledge or experience that covers logistics, scheduling, staff management and/or operations.
Experience in effectively supervising a small workforce of paid and/or volunteer staff members.
Understanding and experience with working in an environment where security and accreditation level requirements are exceptionally high.
PACKAGE:
£20k per annum pro rata
